The Widow’s Might

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carissa @ 10:43 am

Our family recently enjoyed this amazing movie. The writer, producer, star and lead singer are one person– 19 year old John Moore! The quality is great and the story is as well. It is a musical western. It sounds kind of strange, but it is really quite interesting. We have watched it a few times and recommend it often. Which is why I’m posting it on here– my dad said to let you all know about it. :)

You can download the movie at: Behemoth.com. And/or read more about it at: Widow’s Cry.com or check out John’s blog.

He started helping with Mann Tile when he moved to Florida about 4 years ago. Maybe more, I’m not sure.

Family

As the term “Uncle” would suggest, he is Papa’s older brother, and our uncle. He is the oldest in my papa’s family. There are 5 boys and 1 girl in their family. (not all from the same parents.)

He is also know as “Uncle Grichie”. Matthew named him that. (he can say Richie, but tries not to. He will sometimes say “Uncle Richie, I mean, Uncle Grichie)

Interests:

Talking about how awful everything is. :) Not really, but he does tend to talk about the troubles in our country often. Also silver, learning, and food.

 Tile

Rob started tiling in Colorado, when I was about 4, and I’m 18 now, so it’s been about 14 years. We moved to Missouri, and he did some tile and other floor coverings. When we moved to Florida, he tiled for several different tile companies, then went on his own. From there, he was joined by Ed, a friend and tiling professional. He started “Mann Tile” about 5 years ago. It has been a wonderful learning experience.

Family

Rob and his wife Judy, were married on April 22nd, 1989. On May 1st, 1990 they had me, Carissa. Then, on November 30th, 1991, they had one of my best friends, Hannah. On October 8th, 1993, Josiah, his oldest son was born. We were all born in Pennsylvania. In Colorado, we had Emily on August 25, 1996. We moved to Missouri for a short time. We then moved to Florida, where Cheryl was born on June 24th 1999. William was born on August 4th, 2002. Matthew came along on May 3rd, 2005. We are all good friends, and are a close family. Papa has made it a tradition to read nearlyevery night for I think 9 years. We have read many, many wonderful books together. Our family loves to read, which was inspiried by papa’s love of reading. We are home-schooled, and go to Grace Bible Church in Port Charlotte. It is very fun to live in our family.

Happy New Year!!! 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carissa @ 11:38 am

Well, here we are, on the last day of 2008. It was an interesting year, to say the least. I think our family has learned a lot through the hard times, and we are extremely grateful to God for His provision.

Good news for 2009– Mann Tile is actually BUSY!!! The entire month of January is full, and so is the first week in February- and we have quite a few people that wanted to be called January 1st! God has blessed us!

We are excited to see what God has in store for our family this year. We are all working on our lists of goals. I have quite a list of things to accomplish.  :) We are going to give Mona Vie a try, as I have mentioned earlier. With God’s help, this could mean a big improvement in our family’s health and finances. :)

Tonight we are going to spend the evening at our Pastor’s house. He and his wife, Carol, have 8 children, all 11 and younger. They are very fun to be around, and we are all looking forward eating Miss Carol’s delicious sloppy joes, my Mama’s wonderful fruit pizza, playing games, and more. We spent New year’s eve with them 2 years ago, and we had a great time.

What are some of your hopes, goals, etc… for 2009? Comment and let me know!

Well, we hope the best for you and your family in 2009! Have a fun, safe New Year’s Eve!

HAPPY 2009!!!!

I am happy to report that dollar for a drink has reached, (exceeded, actually- by over $2,000!) their goal of $8,000 for a well in Sudan by Christmas 2008! The entire amount of $10,290 will go to building wells in Sudan. They are still accepting donations, if you’re wondering! Thank you for your intrest!

Dollar for a Drink

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carissa @ 5:43 pm

I have been reading the rebelution blog for quite awhile now, and recently, I read a post http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2008/11/joshua-guthrie-dollar-for-a-drink/ about a project to raise $8,000 by Christmas 2008– for a fresh water well in Sudan. There is a great need for fresh water in Sudan. They have the highest level of people in the world with access only to contaminated water– 12.3 million!! Dollar for a Drink has raised $6,335 currently. This project was started by someone rather unexpected- a 16 year old boy. This is a great project, and I would highly recommend helping them out this holiday season. I did.

Mann Tile News

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carissa @ 4:54 pm

We have some sad news here at Mann Tile. Ed, one of our main tile installers, broke his leg badly in a motercycle accident. He is healing now after surgery, and we would appreciate your prayers for a great recovery.

Since the accident, my father, Rob Mann, will be installing– in fact, he started today. He is an excellent installer!

We have been taking a break with canvassing because the response had not been so good due to the holiday season.

Mann family is looking for ways to save on the money and we have been working on a “plan B”. Right now, that looks like it will be Mona Vie.

The times are rough, but we know that God will take care of us and lead us as we enter this new phase in our lives. Us children are planning on helping out all we can with our current business and also our new venture– Mona Vie.

Well, that’s all for now. More later…

We hired 3 more canvassers! Echo, Talmadge, and Addison. They are all brothers and sisters, and also happen to be the children of one of our tile installers! This truly is a family business! :)

Also, My brother Josiah and my Dad just came back from Buloxi, MS. They were on a missions trip to help rebuild homes devastated by hurricane Katrina. Yes, there are still houses to be rebuilt! They were gone from Sunday, November 9th to Saturday, November 15th. We here at home are very glad to have them back!!

And we (I am) are working on painting our living room and other areas. So far, I’ve painted the doors, and a wall and a half, all green. It is fun to get the canvassers reaction. One of their comments was, “Mann Tile is going green!”

Well, that’s all for now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some pictures up here soon!

Voting

Filed under: Uncategorized — Carissa @ 9:56 am

I voted on November 1st! I have always thought it was neat that right when I would be able to vote, it would be a presidential election! I can hardly believe that this time has come! :)

It’s important to remember during this time that God is in control. He knows what He’s doing! Yet, at the same time, He requires us to do what we can for His glory. So we should search the scriptures and vote according to who we think would best uphold the values we find there.

Also, remember there are more options than we normally think– instead of only two choices, there are 13.   It is a good idea to research and find out who is the best choice. Our family decided that we won’t vote out of fear — instead, we chose to vote for the candidate we actually stand behind— Chuck Baldwin, from the constitutional party.

Will he get in? Not likely. But we are responsible to God for the choices we make. We are committed to voting for the person who best represents us and what we believe.
